In August of 2009, I wrote my very 1st post for Sunny Mummy.
The plan was never to write a blog and turn it into a business. The plan was to start the organistion in 2010 {what I would refer to back then as THE LAUNCH YEAR}, once both my kids were at school but start raising awareness, of the Sunny Mummy message, by sharing how I lived as a Sunny Mummy.
I had heard of vision boards back then and had always been massively into quotes, inspirational images etc However I had never actually sat down and put my vision onto a board, where I could see it.
The end of 2009 saw me participate in theBizness Babes course, and it was here that I was challenged to put my 1st vision board together.
My first ever vision board…
I hung it on my wall, right above my desk and looked at it every day. Pretty soon, it just became part of the decor, so I never actually ‘focused on it’ as such.
What you can’t see in this image, is the text that went along with it.
- 4brm house with office near the beach
- Private school with gifted program
- Work from home to enable drop off & pick up of my kiddies from school
- Turn my obsession into my profession
By the end of 2010, when I looked at the images and read the text, I realised I had achieved/received the following:
- We were living in a 4brm house with office near the beach {never imagined it would have been in QLD}
- Our kids are attending a private school with our son in a full time gifted program
- I work from home & am able to drop off & pick up of my kiddies from school each day
- I turned my obsession into my profession and LOVE what I do
- My husband gave me a brand new set of rings for our 10th wedding anniversary {granted not from Tiffany &Co but care factor = zero on that one, I love that he did this for me}
- I was on the morning show (granted, I had put ‘sunrise’ but hey, it’s still channel 7 right?}
- I was helping mothers enJOY motherhood
- Oprah announced her visit down under
and the super generous community that is the Sunny Mummy Sisterhood, sent me this:

A yellow vintage bicycle, complete with a basket and a WHOLE lotta happy tears!
I would say my first experience with creating a vision board was pretty D-Y-N-O-M-I-T-E
2011
When 2011 rolled around, I wanted to take my vision board to the next level. I didn’t research what to do or how to create one, I just knew that I wanted to be more specific.
I also remembered reading somewhere about putting a picture of yourself and your family in the middle, so as to make it more personal.

I also added positive and affirmative words and phrases in my own handwriting, around certain images.
This time, rather than hang the board above my desk and just ‘see’ it. I chose to put it on the back half of the door that remains closed in my office. This way, I would see it every time I walked out of the office and would take a moment to ‘meditate’ on it.
When I say ‘meditate’ on it. I did not sit in the lotus position, willing these things to come into my life. Nor did I look at it with every finger and toe crossed saying “pretty please with sugar on top can I have these things!”. What I did and still do, is take a moment to look at the images, visualise these things in my life and BELIEVE that I will get them! What comes next is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART….
Speak it out!
It never ceases to amaze me, how many people I hear or see, speak out negativity and then wonder why they are don’t seem to be getting the things they desire.
Our words have life and every time you speak out something, good or bad, make no mistake, you will get it in one way or another.
There is just one catch…You cannot say one thing, and mean another!
Put simply, declaring you will drive a yellow beetle but thinking “yeah right” , pretty much guarantees you will not drive a yellow beetle.
Putting the words out there is only 1/2 the job done. The universe loves declarations and positive words but it can only deliver on vibrations and your words must match your vibrations.
The Law of Vibration basically means that everything in the world has a frequency and in order to attract the things your desire, you must be on the same frequency.
Tune in…
So far this year, I am rockin the frequency of the things I desire!
2 MAJOR things in my vision have come into fruition….
1. I was invited to spend the weekEND at Gwinganna {you can read all about it here} which was absolutely AMAZING and so much better than I dreamt of.
2. I was provided with the use of a brand new yellow Volkswagen beetle, courtesy of our 1st major sponsor, Bryan Byrt Automotive Group.
Whilst both of these things did not happen purely by cutting out a picture and sticking it on a board, they would not have happened, had I not put them on my vision board to begin with.
Placing your desires on a vision board brings your dreams out of your head into your world. Not only seeing but believing these things will manifest in your life is the next step in bringing these dreams to life. Finally, by speaking them out, you not only confirm your desires to yourself and the universe, you allow the people in your world, an opportunity to help make your dreams come true.
How others can help…
A perfect example of this, is my new set of wheels. Since Sunny Mummy began, I have dreamt of driving an SM branded beetle, blogged about it, had a mini one sitting on my desk and of course, declared that this year, would be the THE year I would drive one. When Peekaboo Magazine did a story on Sunny Mummy in the latest issue, my vision board was mentioned. Bianca Shugg {Peekaboo Founder} and I, were chatting about my obsession with yellow VW’s and Oprah, when she mentioned the Bryan Byrt Automotive Group {btw, if you are in QLD & in the market for a new or used car, you know where to go for a sunny deal} and casually mentioned she would shoot them an email letting them know about our work in the community.
I laughed, thanked her and thought, YES, YES, YES {shameful Bryan Byrt plug there
} imagine if they did….how good would that be? And I did. Imagine it, that is. I visualised getting one, driving one and spreading the rays in one. I knew I would get one, someway, somehow and now it is sitting in my garage, smiling at me. All because I had a vision, believed and shared my dreams, others were able to help make them come true.
Your vision to fruition…
So now it is your turn!
There are no rules when it comes to creating a vision board. The process should be pleasurable, not fraught with rules about what is and is not, acceptable to be placed on there.
Here’s what you will need:
- Magazines
- Scissors
- Glue
- Cardboard, canvas, cork board or whatever you want to display your images on
- Texta
- Photo of you {this can be with or without your family, mine has both}
Steps:
- Get down on the floor, pop on your favourite tunes, have a cuppa or glass of your fave bevvie.
- Stick your photo smack in the middle of your board.
- Cut out images, phrases etc that appeal to you. Don’t over think it, just see it, like it, cut it.
- Spread out all your images, and as you look at each one, notice how it makes you feel?
- Now it is time to decide what is worthy of your space and select what you truly want to come into your life.
- Stick the images on and grab your texta.
- Write around the images, in them, on them , under them, whatever. Some examples of mine were determined/grounded/minimalise/bliss/slow/own-OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK!
Now it is time to hang your board somewhere where you will see it each day & can take a moment to meditate on its images and words.
In addition to the vision board, the following tips will assist in improving your vibrations and getting you on the right frequency;
- Be grateful; IE until you truly appreciate what you already have, the universe will not give you more, WANT what you HAVE
- Speak positive; IE watch your words because you won’t get very far if nothing but negativity spills out of your mouth
- Act as if you already have what you want; IE when you act as though you have it, you are on the same frequency you need to get it
- Be mindful of your thoughts and actions; IE when a negative thought pops in your head or out of your mouth, don’t judge, rather declare “well that is what I DON”T want. Here’s what I DO want”.
- Give yourself; IE the happiest people I know, myself included, are those that submit to a cause higher than themselves so be kind and DO GOOD.
- Be still; IE take time to be alone with your thoughts and recognise if they need replacing. I only learnt this at Gwinganna and I expect even more to come to fruition now.
- Surround yourself with like-minded people {like those in the Sunny Mummy Sisterhood} ; IE Birds of a feather flock together. You want to fly with the birds who encourage and support your vision because they have their own. Not the ones that say “oh yeah well it’s alright for you, you’re lucky, that would never happen to me”…GUESS WHAT, fly away from them QUICK because they are right, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO THEM!
- Finally, BELIEVE that you will get what you desire, KNOWING that the universe will only give you what is good for you. IE You may not get everything on your board, however you may get so much more!
and remember….

Tell me, do you have a vision board or are itching to start one, now that you have read this?

I have had a vision board in my head for years and I have to say it’s been a truly positive experience, and one that I really do need to keep in hardcopy. Since 2003, with 3 kids under 3 and a broken marriage I created a vivid vision to study nursing at Uni, work as a registered nurse and then become a midwife, find a loving partner that loved my kids as his own, grow my family and provide them with the best that I could, stay balanced and healthy, be positive and be a wonderful wife. I am pleased to report that the universe heard me and all the above has been given to me. It really is a strange phenomena and it really does work and even though I kept mine in my head, every day of every year till 2011 I worked hard and as of July begin my midwife training, the last piece of my vision board. I’m about to begin a new revamped hardcopy version and can’t wait to watch the universe work it’s magic again.
Oh and congratulations on your success and I just love being a part of your community.
I have thought about doing this a lot but never had the courage to do so. After reading your post SM, Im looking forward to it
The only thing I lack is learning about, how to distinguish what my obsession is. I have too many interests!
I’m working on my current one at the moment. I know they work too, they have for me
Sooo itching to start mine!!

Hi Stacey
I created my very first mood board for the decor8 Blogging Your Way e-course – you can see it here (http://www.lifeonplanetbaby.com/2011/03/creating-my-first-mood-board-sneak-peek.html). I was stunned at the feelings it evoked in me and so many of my readers. I’m looking forward to creating my next one!

Thanks. You reminded me of the vision board I did a few years ago and wow so many of the things I had on the board came to fruition. This will definately be the year for another vision board.
Congrats on your success & thank you so much for the inspiration to start my own vision board. I truly feel this will help clarify my goals & dreams for myself & my family. Life is pretty tough at the moment but we do remind ourselves all the time that we are blessed to have 2 beautiful children, a roof over our heads & food on our table. I am inspired & motivated to breathe positivity & to believe that all our hopes & dreams will come true!! Thank you Sunny Mummy
Wow!! You have bought tears to my eyes whilst reading your blog about positive energy. I really do believe what you say and have been saying this to my friends and family about ‘What you say will eventually happen in some form’.. They all just looked at me and laughed
I am now going to start a vision board with my husband and our kids.. We will all do our own and hang them up for everyone to see
Thankyou very much.. I am really glad i stumbled upon your website through Facebook.
Yours forever grateful Kareena-Jaclyn Xx
