Excellent post stacey. I too love Gwyneth and her multi-tasking, working Mum-ness. She's a great example of being a mum and a working, business woman too. She's always going to cop flack from the media, I'm glad you've told it like it is. Comparing yourself to others is the biggest problem in our modern society. Instead of comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to yourself. Aim to grow, and stretch and be the best multi-faceted human being you can each and every day!

My mean mum is more of a caged lioness. What I've discovered over the years (and thanks Stace, this post was a very timely reminder) that if I (just me, it's different for everyone) - if I try to kill it, another just pops up when I least expect it.
When I find her nipping at my heels (and on occasion, she's half consumed me) - I've learnt to turn around, face her and feed her love and security.
I remind myself that it's OK, she's been there and motivated me to get moving.
I was driving home today with some whacky negative stuff coming into my head. I used to refer to those thoughts as my risk assessment - if I think the worst and can see a way out - I'll get through it.
Today was different. Thanks for coming, but with all the lessons it's taught me over the years - I know I can get through everything. So I prefer my first thought to always be a positive one thanks.
Though my lioness is not as hungry and cranky as she's been in the past - it's time to let her go.
She needs to be free and so do I :)

Thanks Stace for this post. It was much needed in my world at the moment.

There has been a series of events that have ripped the world from under me and Mean Mum has been a real bitch! Last night someone asked Miss 5 'If Mummy was one of the characters from the Little Miss books who would she be?' After some thought Miss 5 very confidently anwered 'Little Miss Cranky'. And she is right....

I've crawled my way from nohing before, but this time I'm struggling to find the energy to get back up again. This post spoke volumes. Now I just need the Radical Lovin' Mumma to give Mean Mum a good kick up the backside and kick her out of my life.

Love and sunshine to you always Stace xx

i so needed to read this. I am one of those people. (i don't act like that on your site) but i have recently examined why i am doing this. the only thing i kept coming back to, it feels good to have someone else "approve" of my ideas & thoughts. I think i have great ideas & can genuinely help others. I even free lance some workshops on the side in real life- being paid to offer this same advice i'm dispensing online. BUT at what cost, 1 positive accolade to 10 negative or impartial ones. And the negative ones seem to pierce my thin skin. i am realizing the internet is a double edge sword for me. I am inspired by your posts & love getting homeschool ideas from other moms. But it is all about setting the limit & boundaries. Almost like i need to retrieve the info & LEAVE before I get sucked into the black hole. thanks for another great & reflective article. take care

Yes it is indeed very hard & time consuming for page owners, often who have a business and family to look after too. Most handle it well but i agree, I leave the ones who don't because as page owners, it is our responsibility to be the 'gatekeeper' so to speak. Thanks so much for your kind words x
